Critical Care & Toxicology - MMHRC

Specialized care for critical times.

The Critical Care and Toxicology wing at MMHRC is a highly specialized department that caters to patients suffering from critical illness and those who require close Hemodynamic monitoring. We manage various kinds of poisonings and our unit provides maximum isolation, barrier nursing, sterility and privacy. The department, equipped with 20 beds, provides intensive care and high dependency care in the same unit, with the aid of appropriate pharmaceutical, therapeutic and diagnostic interventions. We offer state-of-the-art treatment for critically ill patients and poisoning cases, backed by trained critical care physicians, intensivists, nurses, physiotherapists, clinical pharmacologists, dieticians and biomedical engineers. Our unit is staffed by microbiology, biochemistry and radiology services, round the clock. A separate Annexe ICU with negative pressure rooms is being utilized for critical patients who require isolation.

Education

MMHRC has always been at the forefront of teaching medical and paramedical professionals. In the same spirit, the Department of critical care medicine and Toxicology is a premier training centre for critical care medicine. We are currently recognized to offer 2 seats of DNB critical care medicine (3 years course conducted by National Board of Examination) with regular teaching and research activities. We are planning to start a training programme in critical care medicine for nurses.
