“With an estimated prevalence rate of 10-20% in rural India, Chronic Kidney Disease of unknown etiology (CKDu) is emerging as a major – yet, largely unaddressed, public health threat in the country. As this rural endemic disease is multifactorial, tackling it demands a multidimensional approach targeting a set of health risk factors as diverse as heat stress and exposure to agrochemicals,” said experts at Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre.
An event was organized on behalf of the World Kidney Day. Mr. Hanif tayub, Head, Rotary club, Madurai West, presided over as the Chief Guest of the event.

A Book for which Dr. Sampath Kumar wrote the preface was launched during the event. The book was given free to the first 50 people who came.
