Neurosurgery - MMHRC

Because the most critical needs demand the finest care.

The Department of Neurosurgery offers comprehensive neurosurgical care to all patients, from basic trauma to highly complicated procedures such as skull base and vascular neurosurgery. It is equipped with all necessary state-of-the-art gadgets at Operation Theatres for safe and effective neurosurgical work. We also do all complicated neurosurgeries with results on par with international standards.

Our department also has DrNB (Doctorate in National Board) residency programme in affiliation with National Board of Examination in Medical Science (NBEMS), Delhi for post graduate training in Neuro Surgery and we receive two residents every year under this programme from all around the country. Our residents also participate in various national and international conference and also achieved many awards like best research paper award in World Federation of Neurological Societies (WFNS), Neurological society of India Conference (NSI), Tamil Nadu Neurological Society (TANS) etc.,

Our department also participated in various multinational, multicentric studies like Global Neuro Trauma Outcome Study (GNOS) in collaboration with Cambridge University. We have also started full time in house endovascular services like mechanical thrombectomy for acute stroke, coiling and flow diverter procedure for ruptured and unruptured aneurysms, embolization for AVM and AV fistulas etc. We are planning to establish a centre of excellence for Neurovascular science both microvascular and endovascular in a world class quality in the near future.

The department is equipped with an advanced operating microscope. The availability of 64-slice CT scanning and MRI scanning with SPECT within the hospital has allowed a far more precise diagnosis and localization for surgical procedures.
