MMHRC’s Pediatrics and Neonatal care department are specially designed to diagnose and manage diverse medical problems of children effectively utilizing the latest medical technology and life-support systems. We provide complete child care comprising Baby Clinic, Neonatal Care, Neonatal and Pediatric Surgeries, and Sophisticated Neonatal and Pediatric ICU’s 24 hrs Children Trauma Care and Immunization Programs.

NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT
Our NICU is 25 beds. To avoid cross infection the unit is divided into septic and aseptic units. Round the clock availability of consultants, DNB residents and trained medical officers.

- Treating a newborn in our NICU always gave us immense pleasure and satisfaction. We have a great concern in the recovery of our babies and this is accomplished by vigilant monitoring by our team.
- Our neonatal intensive care unit is well known for its excellent service to term, preterm and sick newborn babies.
- Utmost importance is given to aseptic techniques while dealing with neonates
- MMHRC is one of the best hospitals in Madurai to provide surfactant therapy and ventilator care with high frequency ventilation for premature babies.
- The outcome of premature babies treated with surfactant therapy & parenteral nutrition and babies with hyperbilirubinemia treated with exchange transfusion and phototherapy are well comparable with any other well equipped tertiary care centre in our country.
- Ventilator care and surfactant therapy provided here have improved the survival rate of VLBW and ELBW preterm babies.
- Exchange transfusion has saved many newborn with Rh hemolytic disease without any squeal.
- All sick cases requiring inotropic support are managed with central venous access which is done under strict aseptic precautions.
- We have an established transport system to transport sick babies from outside the hospital to our NICU. Our transport unit is equipped with adequate equipment, Transport ventilator, qualified pediatrician and NICU trained nursing staff.
