Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre (MMHRC) along with the Indian Medical Association, Madurai Meenakshi Branch organized Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on “SEPSIS UPDATE 2022” at its hospital premises. There were 9 eminent speakers from South India and more than 200 doctors participated from various medical colleges, private hospitals, and clinics in and around Tamil Nadu. The main objective of the CME program was to create awareness among healthcare professionals on the recent trends in antimicrobial resistance and updates on the management of Sepsis.
Sepsis is a life-threatening serious condition resulting from the presence of harmful microorganisms in the blood or other tissues and the body’s response to their presence, potentially leading to the malfunctioning of various organs, shock, and death. Annually sepsis accounts for at least 8 million deaths worldwide and antimicrobial resistance is the third leading cause of death.
