SPUTNIK V vaccine has made its foray into South Tamil Nadu, and it is now available at Meenakshi Mission Hospital & Research Centre (MMHRC) in Madurai.
Meenakshi Mission Hospital is the first healthcare facility in South Tamil Nadu to introduce the Russian vaccine that has an efficacy of 91.6%, said the hospital administration in its statement.
The combined vector vaccine is administered in two doses, in an interval of three weeks. Sputnik V that has been directly procured by MMHRC from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories will be available at the government-approved rate of Rs 1,145 a dose, including administrative charges, the statement further read.
To be inoculated with the Sputnik V vaccine, the public can register prior at the Cowin portal or go to the hospital from 10 am to 4 pm. It will be available on all days.
In association with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, the hospital is set to vaccinate all the staff of the pharma company living in and around Madurai with Sputnik V Vaccine.
The Hospital Chairman Dr.S.Gurushankar said “The hospital’s move will help accelerate the vaccination drive in the South. It will also ease the availability and access of Covid-19 vaccines to keep people safe from the pandemic.
