The sixth edition of a two-day State level conference for cardiologists, organised by the Tamil Nadu Interventional Council (TIC), a sub-group of Cardiological Society of India (CSI) kick-started on Saturday. The day one of the conference which saw over 300 cardiologists from across the country under one roof, was marked by case presentations, debates and imaging lectures. Two surgeries performed in as many private hospitals in Chennai were streamed live here in Madurai. As part of the conference, several stalls were set up by pharmaceutical companies. Speaking at the inaugural function, Dr. S Guru Shankar, Chairman of Meenakshi Mission Hospital urged the cardiologists to take part in more and more similar conferences so that it would facilitate sharing of knowledge. He also went on to insist that the doctors need to advocate and educate people on the emerging trends in the field of medicine. Also present at the event were Dr. K Latchmanadhass, President of TIC, Dr. K Kannan, President of CSI Chennai Chapter and Dr. B Kesavamoorthy, Secretary of TIC.
