Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre (MMHRC) introduced a 14-day home care service for Covid-19 patients with mild/no symptom in Madurai. The public can avail themselves of the services through ‘Meenakshi Homecare’ that is available in two packages priced Rs.15,000 and Rs.21,000.
In a statement, hospital’s Chairman Dr. S Gurushankar said “A Majority of Covid-19 patients are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic. Such patients need not be rushed to hospitals. They can isolate themselves in their homes. If home isolation guidelines are properly followed, recovery takes two weeks.”
He added that the two home care packages were specifically designed for the patients who do not require hospitalisation. “The packages are easy on their pockets and will also help prevent over-crowding at hospitals, thus enabling availability of more beds for severely ill patients.” Noted Dr.S.Gurushankar.
While the Basic Homecare Package is priced at Rs.15,000, the ultra package Rs.21000. Both the packages include consultation with a physician, daily monitoring by trained nurse, dietary and psychological advice, weekly motivational activity program, round the clock helpline, remote patient monitoring system, digital thermometer, face masks, gloves, sanitizer and waste disposal bags. Under the basic home care package, pluse-oximeters and sphygmomanometers are provided. Under the Ultra homecare package, Bluetooth-enabled devices that allow real-time monitoring of the patient by hospital staff through smartphone application are given.
