Paediatric Hematology – Oncology at MMHRC is a division of the Department of Paediatrics, established in January 2010. Its mission is to provide comprehensive care with state-of-the-art facilities, to all children with cancer and blood disorders. The division of pediatric hematology-oncology continues to see an increasing number of children with cancer and blood disorders referred from physicians across the southern districts of Tamil Nadu.
FACILITIES
- Inpatient facilities consist of 24 beds, each in single rooms (including 10 special rooms with attached bath rooms)
- Day Care facilities include 6 beds for chemotherapy infusions and transfusions
- Procedure room with anaesthesia support for procedures like intrathecal chemotherapy and bone marrow aspirate/biopsy
- Pediatric ICU/post-operative ward with 8 beds (common to general paediatrics and paediatric oncology)

Specialized Services:
- Platelet pheresis is offered by our blood bank.
- Those interested in donating platelets by pheresis for children with cancer are requested to call the Blood Bank or Paediatric hematology oncology at 9855481111.
- A hematopoietic stem cell transplant service for adults and children.
- For out-station children we provide night-accommodation in our Day Care Ward, for those undergoing daily radiation treatments.

- Haplo identical Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Post transplant cyclophosphamide
- Alfa/Beta T cell depleted Haplo identical Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation
