Information for DNB and CRRI (Internships) at MMHRC:
The National Board of Examination has accredited MMHRC with 16 PG Courses - 8 Broad Specialties, 7 Super specialties and 1 Fellowship Course. Students who are selected for the PG Courses, as per the existing NBE norms, complete their course at the end of the time period stipulated by the NBE. The candidates appear for the theory examination of the NBE and follow further guidelines of the NB.
MMHRC is one of the prestigious Hospitals recognized for the Compulsory Rotating Internship Course (CRRI) by the Medical Council of India.
What are the Residency programs and details regarding each course?
There are Eight Broad Specialty PG Courses and Seven Super Specialty Courses as indicated below. The subjects of Orthopedics, Anesthesiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Pediatrics have an additional Secondary seat for every primary seat. Secondary seats are filled by candidates who have completed the respective Diploma Courses. The current duration of the primary seat PG course is three years and the secondary seat is two years. Both primary and secondary candidates have to clear the NEET exam just before the National Academic selection.
The department of CTVS and Neurosurgery run six years courses admitting Candidates after MBBS & 1 year rotating internship and a CET Pass.

When do the programmes begin and what are the admission deadlines?
Pediatrics, Surgery and all Super Specialty programmes commence every January.
The rest of the courses commence in July. Thus the candidates applying for the January course should have passed NEET in December and candidates applying in July should have passed NEET exam in June that same year.
How many PGs are being trained at MMHRC ?
Currently, we have 54 PGs being trained on campus.
Do the PGs pay for the course or do they get a stipend?
- Broad specialty PGs get Rs.27500, Rs.29500 and Rs.31500 for the first, second and third years.
- Super Specialty PGs get Rs. 45000, Rs. 50000, Rs.55000 for the first, second and third years. - FNB Specialty PGs get Rs. 45000, Rs. 50000 for the first and second years.
- The stipend is enhanced by the management from time to time.
Which institutions accredits the MMHRC Residency Programme?
The residence programs in MMHRC are accredited by the Indian Medical Council.
Please tell me about the Residency Training format at MMHRC ?
What, when and how are the exams (in any Specialty)?
There is a six monthly review during the course when an external examiner will conduct a theory practical exam and check the log book and thesis. Each specialty may conduct internal exams. The NBE will conduct the final exams at the end of two/ three years.

Is MMHRC approved to provide MD and Ph.D Programmes?
We have several Ph.D. programmes affiliated with the Madurai Kamaraj University and MGR Medical University, under the guidance of Dr.V. N. Rajasekaran, our Medical Director, who is a recognized guide for the MGR and Madurai Kamaraj University.
